Thank you to the North Carolina Arts Council for supporting Lost Province Arts through both Sustaining Grants and Hurricane Helene Relief Grant Funding. The support of this amazing organization has allowed us to provide continued programming through a very difficult time in the past year. Your support is very much appreciated!
Lost Province Center for Cultural Arts has received $7,500 from the National Trust for Historic Preservation through the Johanna Favrot Fund for Historic Preservation. This funding will kickstart a market feasibility study that will guide LPCCA's business plan. The total cost of the study is $42,000 and we're currently working to secure other monies to fund this critical study. Thank you to Blue Ridge National Heritage Area for performing a market analysis and feasibility study for the Preservation of the Historic Lansing School as a venue for teaching traditional Appalachian arts and crafts, revitalizing the economy of the Lansing community, bridging the urban/rural divide and promoting and preserving culture, arts and skills of the Southern Appalachian region.
The arts tell a story of the region in a way nothing else can. With classes in spinning, weaving, quilting, Lost Province Arts will give life to these historic crafts for a new generation.
Clay has been a foundational part of our culture and history for as long as people have inhabited our mountains. Our pottery studio and visiting artisans work to share this legacy with future generations.
Ola Belle Reed, one of the founders of bluegrass, was born in Lansing, NC, the Center’s home. We’ll honor her contributions and the music of Southern Appalachia with class offerings including music, storytelling and songwriting.
